July GBOMB

Good California and the beach. I stubbornly insisted on a beach trip during our California trip over the 4th of July weekend. There was a lot of noise in my ear about traffic and crowds. But we went to Crystal Cove, arriving about 9am, and it wasn't bad AT ALL. The hike down and back up with a three year old whose flip flops kept sliding off was a little challenging. But otherwise it was an awesome time. AJ loved it. Memories made.  Garden. It's fun to have AJ help me round up ripe tomatoes almost daily. He loves it, and he loves to eat them, I think mostly because we grew them! We’ve had a lot of cucumbers but sadly they haven’t tasted very good. Two jalapenos are coming in, and I’ve attempted another round of squash that has brought up seedlings already. We will see. I’m excited to get some things planted for fall harvest – spinach, lettuce, and carrots.  The tomatoes are now bending over the tops of the cages Freebies. Our company has a "swap shop" online, and s...

July 1 I missed my alarm for a morning walk. We went to lunch as a team. I worked on ESL lesson plans. I got home early, tidied, did a load of laundry, picked up AJ, and stopped at Harmon's. I fed AJ and had the neighbors over to show them how to take care of Max. Matthew did bed and bath time while I packed for myself and AJ.  July 2 I went to the gym and went to work. I worked until 3pm--popcorn day. I came home and finished packing and getting ready. We left at 5:00 to get AJ, then hit traffic going south. We stopped in Fillmore for dinner at Krispy Krunchy Chicken. We stayed there longer than I'd have liked. We got to Mesquite at about 11pm Utah time, which stunk. AJ was an absolute mess--totally incoherent and uncooperative.  July 3 We ate breakfast at the buffet at Virgin River and were really happy with it! We drove from Mesquite to Glendora with a stop in Baker. AJ took a super long car nap since he didn't sleep all night. We got to Glendora around 2pm. We went to d...

Good New trainer. I hired a new coach for power lifting. She's a record holding pro, and so far a really great coach. Very organized and responsive. It's been a little discouraging to make so many adjustments to my form that I thought was OK. Plus learning new things like low bar on squats. It's hard to get it all right. What's been really nice is the deload. Last week and this week (6/16-6/27) have been a much lighter load. Lower volume and lower RPE, especially on accessories. It's been SO nice to go easier. She also told me that I'm built for power lifting, so that's cool.  TESOL. I have finished my TESOL course work for work and have started planning curriculum for our level 2 ESL classes we provide at work. I'm excited to get back in the classroom even though this is slightly outside my experience and wheelhouse.  Pool days. We've had some cooler weather in the last little bit, and I'm not much of a pool person if it's below 85, so we...

6/1 I went on a walk and did yoga. We went to the Harry Potter Exhibition with my manager, her husband, and their daughter. It was super fun. Then we got lunch all together at Slackwater, which never disappoints. After we got home I went to the condo to clean. I finished the cabinets and drawers in the kitchen and also the oven. Matthew switched me, and got blinds installed and did some other things around the condo. I published my blogs for May and watched Lost.  Condo oven: sparkling Squash and pumpkins that are now destroyed The Great Hall Cupboard under the stairs A battle 6/2 I went to the gym for squats. Work was busy as I had a new hire orientation with just ONE person. Thankfully it wasn't too awkward. I picked up AJ, and we went to Walmart. It was a pretty normal evening at home. I did Face Time with both parents that evening. We watched Lost. 6/3 I got up to go on a walk; it was chilly! Work was super quiet. I finally decided and moved forward on an ESL assignment I had. ...
